How can I hang things in my cube?

I work in an office with cubicles. Every other cube I have worked in you could stick pins in the walls to hang things like paper. My cube walls now just have a thin layer of fabric and beneath that is a hard non-magnetic surface (plastic perhaps).

Get the velcro squares or tape with the sticky backs so the pointier side {the back of it} sticks to the wall and the back of the fuzzy side sticks to the thing you hang and you connect the pointy and fuzzy sides.
Also, you can get a bunch of that velcro on a thin piece of metal and hang it {INSTANT MAGNET BOARD!!!!!!}

Try double sided tape for light, temporary stuff!!

Morphology
Vladimir Propp specifically studied a collection of Russian fairy tales, but his analysis has been found useful for the tales of other countries.

Having criticized Aarne-Thompson type analysis for ignoring what motifs did in stories, he analyzed the tales for the function each character and action fulfilled and concluded that a tale was composed of thirty-one elements and eight character types. While the elements were not all required for all tales, when they appeared, they did so in an invariant order — except that each individual element might be negated twice, so that it would appear three times, as when, in Brother and Sister, the brother resists drinking from enchanted streams twice, so that it is the third that enchants him.

One such element is the donor who gives the hero magical assistance, often after testing him, and this function can be independent of any appearance of the donor. In The Golden Bird, the talking fox tests the hero by warning him against entering an inn and, after he succeeds, helps him find the object of his quest; in Cinderella, the fairy godmother gives Cinderella the dresses she needs to attend the ball; in The Red Ettin, the role is split into the mother, who offers the hero the whole of a journey cake with her curse, or half with her blessing, and when he takes the half, a fairy who gives him advice; in The Giant Who Had No Heart in His Body, three separate animals pledge the hero their aid in return for his aid. Other fairy tales, such as The Story of a Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear, do not feature the donor.

Analogies have been drawn between this and the analysis of myths into the Hero's journey.

This analysis has been criticized for ignoring tone, mood, characters, and, indeed, anything at all that differentiates one fairy tale from another..

Then here's my own thoughts:

Most prose hinges on the basic theme of 3s. Example: Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl. It is the essential breakdown of any conflict, and conflict is the ubiquitous constant in fiction. You become aware of a situation, you confront and struggle with the situation, and you either overcome or are defeated by the conflict.

With fairy tales, I think it goes a bit further. You're right. I hadn't really thought about it before, but the 3 little pigs, the 3 bears, you have to stop and wonder.

I can only suggest that perhaps the general moralistic nature of fairy tales is mapped (intentionally or not) to Freud's division of our minds. (I admit I was tempted to go with the holy trinity, but I can't really defend that stance).

The 3 parts of the mind are the id (uncontrollable animal instinct, survival, the child), the superego (parental control and morals, what is taught to us by society and parents), and the ego(connection to reality, our instinctual understanding of control-a balance).

You can equate these 3 components to the 3s in the fairy tales where they are represented by characters. However, when the 3s are in the story line, I think it goes back to the ordinary prose structure.

How to Make Your Own Sushi/Sushi Making for Beginners

Love sushi but can't afford to eat it as often as you'd like? Learn how to save money by making sushi at home with this series of simple how-to make sushi

Beginning sushi making takes a bit of practice to get the hang of, so the first few attempts may not be pretty. After the sushi rice has been prepared and allowed to cool, it's time to move on to the next step in the process. Make sure that the following items are on hand:

* sushi rolling mat * condiment bowl * large, sharp knife * cutting board * plastic wrap * sushi rice
* fish * shrimp * avocado * cucumber * black sesame seeds * white sesame seeds * rice vinegar
* salt * sugar * pickled ginger * wasabi powder * roasted nori (seaweed), rice paper, or soy wrap

Sushi Rolling Basics

Rolling can be both the easiest and the hardest part of sushi making. This depends on the type of roll desired. Rolls come in a variety of forms, from standard, inside-out, to the more elaborate rolls such as shikai-maki. Prior to rolling sushi, wrap the rolling mat in plastic wrap. This makes rolling and cleanup a breeze.

It's a good idea to have several small bowls on hand for keeping the various ingredients handy, reserving one specifically for rinsing fingers in a 1:1 mixture of rice vinegar to water. This prevents the rice from sticking to the fingers when spreading the rice.

Making the Standard Sushi Roll

To make the basic roll, the nori should be at the edge of the rolling mat closest to the preparer. Press a thin layer of rice evenly onto the nori, leaving about a half inch of nori exposed closest to the center of the mat. At the left edge, starting from left to right, place a thin layer of fish and vegetables onto the rice in a line. The most common mistake when making sushi for the first time is to use too much filling. In sushi, less is more.

Next, gently roll the edge of the mat up and over the rice mixture while pressing down firmly and rolling the mat away. Carefully unroll the mat and remove the roll to a cutting board. Cut the roll into two pieces with a large, sharp knife and then place the two pieces side by side. Proceed to slice the roll again into 4 to 6 slices and place on a serving dish.Sprinkle the roll with sesame seeds and garnish with sliced ginger and wasabi. Place soy sauce in a condiment bowl and serve.

Making an Inside-Out sushi Roll

The inside-out roll can be achieved with a slight variation on the standard roll. The key to this roll is practice and more practice. For the inside-out roll, cover the nori completely with rice, then carefully flip the nori and rice mixture over so that the rice is on the plastic wrap. Next, layer the fish/vegetable mixture onto the nori as per the standard roll and use the same rolling method.

Making sushi can be a fun learning experience. Make sushi night a dinner theme party and let everyone try their hand at creating and rolling their own sushi.

How to Make Sashimi at Home
Sashimi is a great way to enjoy seafood. Without the rice, the true essence of the fish comes through, and with just a dab of shoyu to enhance it, this is the purist's dream. Some fish take very well to being served in this style, particularly the fattier cuts of tuna, toro, chu-toro, and o-toro. Live scallop sashimi (taken right out of the scallop shell) is, for example, an exquisite treat, and has a comparably different taste and texture than the scallop normally served as sushi. This item, and some like it, should only be served as sashimi.
Making sashimi at home
Sashimi is actually the most simple style to make. Many Japanese markets have pre-shaped fillets ready for sushi and sashimi. This is perfect for making sushi at home because it means less work and less waste. Often, the fillets are approximately 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide and anywhere from 1/2 to 1 inch high. The length varies, but they can be a few inches long to up to 6 (usually). If these are not available, try to trim your purchased fish into something along these lines. It doesn't need to be perfect, and in fact, you can make sashimi just about any shape you want, the consistency and perfection sought in sushi restaurants is primarily for presentation. At home... who cares? To make sashimi, simply cut the fish against the grain into pieces approximately 1/4 of an inch thick, retaining the previous height and width proportions. The grain of the fish is usually readily apparent, so this should not be difficult. Generally speaking, the larger steakfish are well suited for sashimi as they are easily cut into the rectangles people expect to see as sashimi. Smaller, lighter fish are harder to serve this way, however have sashimi styles of their own. Ika (squid) for example is often scored and piled up folded over on itself when presented sashimi style on a plate. But again, eat what you like how you like it.

Sashimi is often served with shiso and daikon as accompaniments. These are generally for aesthetic purposes, however I love to munch on the daikon with my meal.
