Why did Disney make Pocahontas?
Historically, the British came to America bringing disease and contracts, and John Smith raped several underage natives including Pocahontas.
Yet when Disney remakes it, the greedy foreigners get converter to one single bad guy and the pedophilic relationship somehow ends up being a tragic love story.
.. I mean, why stop there? Why not turn take Anne Frank or Eva Braun or Karla Homolka and assimilate them into Disney-Princess-land?
That was my point: Disney doesn't give a crap about accuracy, so why not continue taking dark historical stories and turning them into sugary cartoons.
FYI, Sleeping Beauty is a fictional character. Not real.
If you're going to tell the story of a real person (ie Pocahontas) then you shouldn't sugercoat or distort the facts. IRL Pocahontas was treated horribly, they should show some respect.
Man, it's just a movie, and a cartoon at that!
How come the "Sleeping Beauty" wasn't raped in her sleep as she was in Grimm's tale? Because it's a cartoon! It's for kids and families!
