Say Aloha to a Birthday Luau
Author: Michelle Normand
Aloha.
My daughter, Maggie (age 6) wanted to get in the current enthusiasm luau by a hula girl birthday party. The fact that her birthday is in late November made me happy, but I love a good birthday party challenge, so we went anyway. You can follow the following steps and a hip-Hawaii-bash any time of year.
Step 1: Activities
We started with the planning of the vehicle; hula skirts. Armed with a ca $ 20 and an idea we were put into the boats, which it will find streamers, flowers and ribbon. The tape was in strips long enough to fit a child's waist tie (with space) cut. Next, we have 1 roll of green and yellow, 1 roll of crepe streamer and cut them into 2-m strips.
When the children arrived they just grabbed some streamer strips and she clung to a piece of the tape. First they took a couple of small artificial flowers and double sided tape be used in order to remain in the band as well. Viola, a grass skirt is born.
Step 2: Games
Browse through our CDs, we were able to put together a mix of tropical upbeat tunes. When you present there are many CDs Luau to save up for sale on party business and the Internet. I've tried to stick to a tight budget, so we used our own music and CD burner on my computer. These Music mix has been the basis for most of our games.
My daughter was in the cargo floor of the balance. It shapes a piece of PVC pipe from the DIY with stickers and streamers. My 4 years old was also involved, and it turned out really great!
Once the vehicle is turned on completion the tropical tunes and had a game of Freeze Hula Dance. This was followed by several rounds of Limbo. The children enjoyed it so much we almost ran made of prices. Then we present the Music again and had hula hoop contests. My goal: to keep them in motion!
Step 3: Food, Glorious Food
Is there anything more beautiful than the off the lighting and watching all the little eyes sparkle as they stare at the birthday cake? I know the cake was a deal-breaker, when I was a child, it was the pressure on to come with something great.
My idea was to adapt the classic doll cake and in a Hawaiian beauty. I did not refer to a specific Doll cake, so I buy a 2 liter Pyrex dish instead of. A bundt pan would be another possibility. I have to choose a doll (only from the waist) a DIY store for my hula girl, much easier than trying to push Barbie's legs into a cake, or even worse ... They amputate.
The next Step was to decorate the cake with green frosting and drag a fork of the frosting to look like it just as a wavy grass skirt. Flower shaped candies were placed around the waist and a small silk flower was to remember the hair of the doll. I've crushed a delicious fruit leather bikini top and then sprinkled graham crackers on the plates look like sand.
Mission accomplished. My daughter's Party was a great success and we do not have the bank to do it. Everyone had a blast and the cake was definitely the highlight of the entire event. In the end I think you have so much fun preparing for the party, as you have during the party!
